Luxury bathroom in period property

The owners of this historic house, wanted to install a new en-suite bathroom to complement their master bedroom, which we designed a few years ago and is located on the top floor of their home. The space was dominated by heavily sloping ceilings and lots of dark, wooden beams. They wanted a modern but classic look bathroom with freestanding bath, shower and plenty of storage.

DESIGN SOLUTION

We designed the bathroom around the existing wooden beams, to include
cabinetry at either side of the room, fitted under the sloping ceiling to maximise the storage space. The cabinetry includes full height doors for out of sight storage and open shelving for towels, candles and other display items. The vanity cabinet with under mounted bowl by Villeroy & Boch includes taps and accessories from the Samuel Heath ‘Fairfield’ range for a period touch. The vanity cabinet has a Statuairo marble top and was designed to maximise space by fitting in level to the window recess. The crystal faceted handles complete the elegant look. The vanity and cabinetry are finished in Purbeck Stone by Farrow & Ball, with crystal faceted handles and walls in Pink Ground.

FURTHER DETAILS

The bathroom was completely created by our own in-house team, from removing the old bathroom, to tiling the new one with stunning polished marble tiles and then decorating the room. The glass shower screen completes the walk-in shower and also includes taps and accessories from the Samuel Heath Fairfield range. The lovely freestanding bath is the Elwick from Victoria & Albert.
